Do we expect too much of our kids nowadays?

The question I ask is, do we expect way too much from our children nowadays?  I insist my kids help around the house, they do not have scheduled chores but I do ask them to help me. Last week I spoke to one of our experts and he was saying it is okay for parents to do stuff for their children & teenagers.  By helping them, we will not turn them into non-functioning adults, (they just get to be kids for longer) because there will always be plenty of opportunity for them to grow up and take responsibility.
